Organizing Committee Volunteers

Organizing Committee Members provide direction, planning and onsite event day leadership. Organizing Committee Members work as a team meeting monthly leading up to fundraising events, take on position specific duties between meetings and are onsite during the event.  These opportunities are idea for individuals looking to make a more substantial volunteer time commitment and who wish to enhance or share existing expertise in event or project coordination and leadership.

Position Descriptions

Skills and experience that we are looking for in a Committee member:

  • exceptional leadership skills
  • strong organizational & communication skills
  • ability to work as a team and share ideas and also work independently on tasks assigned outside of monthly meetings
  • event planning experience would be an asset but not mandatory

 All Committee members are required to:

  • Attend all committee meetings (mandatory) – meetings run from January – May and include one post event wrap up meeting
  • Ensure that all pre-event, event and post event duties are complete as outlined in your position description
  • Help promote the event - drop off brochures and posters throughout your community
  • Recruit participant and teams
  • Ask for in-kind donations – ie. Prizing.  See specific Position Descriptions for further instructions
  • Attend the Weekend of the Event – set up, event and tear-down
  • Be familiar with event
  • Understand and be able to communicate to others about MS
  • Keep an accurate record of your hours and submit it to the Coordinator, Volunteer Resources post event
