Election 2011

Election campaign pledges mean gains for people affected by MS
During the 2011 federal election campaign, thousands of committed Canadians urged candidates to support issues of vital importance to people affected by MS. This support has made a difference.
During the campaign, most of the major parties, in their platforms and policy statements, committed to action on better caregiver support, increased income security for people living with MS and more funding for brain research. In addition, several parties in response to an MS Society election questionnaire, agreed a clinical trial of the CCSVI procedure to open narrowed veins should get underway, if and when the scientific evidence showed one was warranted. Please see the summary of party pledges made during the election campaign.
The MS Society will press the new government for swift action on these important issues. Please check back to learn about what is happening and how you can contribute to this vital work.
