May 3, 2010 – Vancouver – On Saturday, May 8th, 2010 Mr. Lube Canada will help recognize MS Awareness Month by donating $5 from every oil change purchase at locations across the country.  The annual campaign, named Founder’s Day in honour of Mr. Lube patriarch Cliff Giese, has raised more than $95,000 since it began in 2007.

“Over 19,000 oil changes have been made in support of multiple sclerosis since this program began,” says Yves Savoie, president and CEO of the MS Society. “On behalf of the MS Society, I extend my gratitude to the Mr. Lube team, their loyal customers and to Cliff Giese for their participation in the movement to end MS. We are honoured to be associated with one of Canada’s finest corporate citizens.”

Funds raised from the Founder’s Day campaign contribute to the MS Society’s mission of being a leader in finding a cure and enhancing the lives of people impacted by MS.  Canada has one of the highest prevalence rates of MS in the world with an estimated 55,000 to 75,000 Canadians living with it today.

“We are proud to be a national partner of the MS Society of Canada and raising funds through our annual Founder’s Day Campaign as we recognize the founder of Mr. Lube Canada, Mr. Clifford Giese,” says Stuart Suls, president and COO of Mr. Lube Canada. “Customers only have to visit Mr. Lube on Saturday May 8 to help make a difference and find a cure for MS.”

About multiple sclerosis and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord. It is the most common neurological disease of young adults in Canada. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 40, and the unpredictable effects of MS last for the rest of their lives. The MS Society provides services to people with MS and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease.
